A guide to our specialist battery replacement service

We know how important it is to keep your watch in tiptop condition, and that means having a battery that works well.

No one wants to be giving a best man’s speech or about to reach a personal best in a marathon, only to find their watch has stopped.

Here at Luxe Watches, we offer a specialist battery replacement service

Our clients trust us with their luxury timepieces as we know the bespoke needs of each brand and you can rest assured your precious watch will only be handled by experts.

When would I need a battery replacement?

Watches could need a new battery for several reasons, including a leak, which could potentially damage intricate watch parts. If a battery is weak, this can lead to timekeeping issues.

Perhaps the water-resistant seal has degraded and that has affected the power or your chronograph features have become unresponsive.

Generally, if your watch is slowing down or stopping, it’s likely a battery change is needed.

In our experience, watch batteries last around two years, so if it’s been that long since your last battery change, do book in with our servicing centre.

Does my watch have a battery?

Watches that are manually wound or have an automatic winding mechanism (charged by the swing of your wrist) do not need a battery. Almost all models from Rolex, Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet do not require batteries.

Cartier, Omega and Tag Heuer watches can have batteries, and we often get requests to change these in our servicing centre.

Why choose Luxe Watches for a battery replacement?

While replacing a job seems like a quick fix, we would recommend that your watch and battery are only handled by a professional.

When a battery is changed it must be carefully resealed, and as we regularly handle luxury watches, we understand the monetary and sentimental value of your timepiece.

We also offer a 12-month warranty with a turnaround time of only 7-14 days.

How can you ensure my watch is sealed properly?

When we’ve sealed your watch, it won’t leave our service centre until a water resistance test has been completed by our qualified watchmaker.

They will use a pressure machine that simulates conditions underwater and subject the watch to varying levels to see whether it has the ability to withstand water exposure at different depths.

The test ensures seals, gasket and other components are intact. The pass or fail result will be marked on the watch case back or provided in the form of a test report.

What can I expect from the Luxe Watches specialist battery replacement service?

Our experts can fit a new battery from as little as £20 and include a reseal from £65, depending on the brand and model of watch.

And better still, we don’t just offer this service to those who can travel to our Epping boutique. We provide a nationwide service, which means you can send us your watch in a supplied postage pack and our experts will handle the rest for you.
