Ace limited edition Big Bang for Novak Djokovic

A few cool things happened in the tennis world this week… both involving multi-grand slam winner Novak Djokovic.

Not only did he turn to his Scottish friend and rival, Andy Murray, to coach him in January’s Australian Open, but he also unveiled his collaboration in creating a new Hublot Big Bang Unico.

The limited-edition watch made its debut at the Hôtel d’Évreux in Paris, a historic mansion on Place Vendôme before journalists and guests from around the globe.

A Hublot ambassador since 2021, Djokovic’s name is synonymous with excellence, etched on countless tennis trophies.

His latest collaboration reflects his drive “to write history,” mirroring his legendary persona. Like Djokovic himself, the timepiece is a masterpiece: bold, agile, confident, extroverted, and exceptionally precise.

Let’s check it out here…

Limited edition

Hublot has been teamed up with the Serbian for three years now, but his latest blue masterpiece is the first limited edition.

The coolest thing about it is the case. It’s crafted from recycled materials including Djokovic’s 25 HEAD racquets and 17 dark blue and 15 light blue worn Lacoste polos from the 2023 season – the materials that accompanied him on the path to win 24 Grand Slam titles.

The racquets were crushed, the polos cut to a specific pattern, and the combination of the two infused with epoxy resin reinforced by quartz powder and glass veil to create an innovative composite for the limited edition run of just 100 watches. Black carbon forms the signature design.

Interestingly, the traditional sapphire crystal has been switched for tempered Gorilla glass, which is two times lighter.

The watch is driven by the HUB1280 Unico automatic flyback chronograph calibre, featuring a 72-hour power reserve. Lightweight anodized aluminum components, matching the case’s blue camo design, replace brass parts, reducing the weight by nearly 27%.

And at its total weight, it’s lighter than a tennis ball.

The openworked dial reveals a glimpse of the intricate mechanics within, showcasing the column wheel at 6 o’clock and the exposed date wheel. At 9 o’clock, the running seconds counter is positioned, while the bold blue-framed disc at 3 o’clock contains the 60-minute chronograph register.

Even the iconic H screws have been replaced with a tennis-ball inspired design and a yellow pusher. His logo is displayed on both the seconds hand and oscillating weight.

Similar in size to other Big Bang Unico models, the 42mm case has a thickness of 14.5mm and is water-resistant to 100 metres.

Making the watch super versatile is the fact it comes with four straps: an elastic sweatband secured with Hublot’s One Click system, a Velcro strap featuring a blue aluminum sports buckle, a white rubber strap, and a Lacoste strap.

Additionally, the watch comes with a Lacoste polo shirt, completing the package.
