Audemars Piguet 2018: The New Watch Collection

Today hundreds of watch connoisseurs, collectors, journalists and curious amateurs will travel to Geneva to celebrate the talents of distinguished luxury watchmakers and admire limited edition pieces up close in the flesh.

Visitors attending the 28th edition of Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie will be able to enjoy exclusive access to new watch collections from the likes of Audemars Piguet, Cartier, A. Lange & Söhne and many more. Guests will have the opportunity to listen to speeches and interviews from leading experts, and participate in discussions about recent developments in the horological industry and expectations for the year ahead.

The timepieces on display this week will set the trends for the forthcoming watchmaking year, so without further ado, we introduce to you the Audemars Piguet 2018 collection.

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Ultra-thin RD#2 (Ref.26586PT.00.1240PT.01)

Audemars Piguet have reinterpreted the classic design of the Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar, and created the world’s thinnest self-winding perpetual calendar wristwatch with a case measurement of just 6.30 mm.

  • Case: 41 mm Platinum with glare proofed sapphire crystal and case back with RD#2 engraving
  • Calibre: 5133
  • Movement: Self-winding
  • Dial: Blue “Grand Tapisserie” pattern, 18ct white gold applied hour markers, Royal Oak hands with luminescent coating, three sub dials (day, date, month, leap year indicators)
  • Bracelet: Platinum bracelet with AP folding clasp

Royal Oak Offshore Tourbillon Chronograph (Ref.26421OR.OO.A002CA.01/ 26421ST.OO.A002CA.01)

The new Tourbillons are limited to just 50 pieces in each metal (available in either 18ct rose gold or stainless steel). Audemars Piguet decided 2018 was the year to test some completely new features never before seen on any of their watches, including a new 45 mm case and technical movement.

  • Case: 45mm 18ct rose gold or stainless steel case, glare proofed sapphire crystal and case back with 18ct rose gold or stainless steel bezel
  • Calibre: 2947
  • Movement: Hand-wound
  • Dial: Open dial with eight 18ct rose gold or stainless steel cut out bridges, and 18ct rose gold or 18ct white gold hands with luminescent coating
  • Bracelet: Black rubber bracelet with either an 18ct rose gold or stainless steel signed buckle

Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked (Ref. 15466BC.GG.1259BC.0/ 15467OR.OO.1256OR.01)

The new Openworked Royal Oak is a stunning piece available in both 18ct white and rose gold. The white gold Royal Oak wrist watch features the beautiful textured ‘hammered’ case, whereas the rose gold features the classic smooth Royal Oak finish.

  • Case: 37 mm white gold ‘frosted’ or rose gold case, glare proofed sapphire crystal and case back
  • Calibre: 3132
  • Movement: Self-winding
  • Dial: Open worked rhodium- toned dial with rose gold applied hour markers and royal oak hands with luminescent coating (for both)
  • Bracelet: Hammered 18ct white gold or smooth 18ct rose gold case with AP folding clasp

Royal Oak Concept Flying Tourbillon Ref. 26227BC.ZZ.D011CR.01

Audemars Piguet seems to have decided to add not only more colour to its collection this year, but also more jewels. The Royal Oak Concept has been completely reinvented. The floating dynamic complication and case feature rows of brilliant cut diamonds, a perfect example of how the union between Haute Horlogerie and Haute Joaillerie can produce some stunning results.

  • Case: 38.5 mm diamond set 18ct white gold case, glare proofed sapphire crystal and case back, crown set with a radiant sapphire cabochon
  • Calibre: 2951
  • Movement: Hand-wound
  • Dial: Diamond set openworked 18ct white gold dial with 18ct white gold hands and a shaped white gold diamond set inner bezel
  • Bracelet: Hand-stitched white alligator leather strap with an 18ct white gold and diamond set AP folding clasp OR white “constellation” rubber strap
