Audemars Piguet’s sizzling new summer collection is out
If bling is your thing, you’ll be all over Audemars Piguet’s new Summer 2021 collection.
Quite a step away from most of their usual offerings, this women’s collection is bursting with jewels, rainbow colours and shine – and oddly, one black ceramic 34mm Royal Oak.
Taking inspiration in diverse worlds to present a kaleidoscopic view of the contemporary woman, these watches blend avant-garde with traditional style.
But whatever your favourite size and material, there will be something to suit you.
Let’s check them out here:
Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked
The main attraction, if it’s bright you’re after, is this ‘rainbow bezel’ set with 12 different gemstones.
Whether it’s rubies, emeralds, topaz or sapphires you like, AP has it covered with this latest offering. Not to mention the three different metal configurations – yellow, pink and white gold.
While they are listed as women’s watches and come in two sizes – 37mm and 41mm, we wouldn’t be surprised to see men also choosing them.
Both sizes come with a Frosted Gold case and bracelet. The effect is created on a gold surface using a diamond-tipped tool to create little indentations. It was first used on the 40th Anniversary Audemars Piguet Ladies Royal Oak.
What is special about this timepiece is the openworked 3132 calibre with a double balance wheel mechanism which can be admired through the front and the back of the watch.
Royal Oak Frosted Gold
We reckon this is one for all the Elsa fans out there – it’s the icy blue version of the Royal Oak Frosted Gold, released in a 34mm size, with an 18-carat white gold case adorned with Frosted Gold.
This dial features an in-house created blue PVD-coated dial with a Grande Tapisserie pattern.
With the self-winding calibre 5800, it has a great 50-hour power reserve.
Royal Oak Self-Winding Chronograph in Pink Gold
This one is truly larger than life at 38mm, featuring a bold ‘chameleon’ purple dial created by applying many layers of purple PVD to the dial surface.
And if the dial’s not bright enough, there’s also a bezel emblazoned with 32 baguette-cut amethysts.
This chronograph features the Frederic Piguet calibre 1185, rather than the 4401 which is used in the chronographs in the Code 11.59 collection.
Royal Oak in Black Ceramic
So we know and love the Royal Oak but this is the very en vogue trend Black Ceramic version. Like the original it has the stunning octagonal bezel, black Grande Tapisserie dial and the classic bracelet – but in ceramic.
The ceramic case is virtually unscratchable, resistant to high temperatures and even thermal shocks making it one of the most durable watches around. For that girly touch it has pink accents which shine out on the black dial.
But interestingly this watch comes in a 34mm size, which is difficult to craft given the material. The last Piguet ceramic offering was the The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar.
