Best luxury watches for car enthusiasts
Expertly crafted using the finest materials and top engineering techniques, offering high performance and great attention to detail…
It’s easy to see why many motoring fans love high-end watches – and there have certainly been some fabulous collaborations over the years between some of the most fabulous cars and watch brands.
Without further ado, let’s check out the best luxury car watches:
Hublot La Ferrari MP-05 Tourbillon
If you’re in pole position in the lounge with your beer ready when the Formula One season comes around – or better still, in a seat at Silverstone – you’ll love the Hublot La Ferrari MP-05, inspired by the very tool used to change race car tyres.
It took 18 months to create, with a total of 637 components. And if you’re wondering where the dial is…. look again, as this one has a vertical tourbillon displaying the time, showing hours, minutes and seconds through barrels. Even the sapphire case was carved out of seven blocks of sapphire, taking 600 hours in time to complete.
And even stranger still, this watch needs a mini ‘power drill’ to start if off and feed power to its mechanism. We are very lucky to have the DLC version in stock, which has a microblasted titanium case, black titanium bezel and smooth rubber strap.
Richard Mille Felipe Massa ‘Le Mans Classic’
We’ve also got the titanium version of this fabulous Richard Mille watch in our boutique – one of just 150 pieces worldwide.
With effortlessly sleek design, the watch produced in honour of the iconic biennial sports car event offers automatic movement, skeletonised dial, arabic numerals and chronograph function with a date window. But in sporty style, it has a green fabric strap which fastens with a velcro strap.
Luxe Watches also has the Richard Mille Felipe Massa Flyback Chronograph 18kt Rose Gold & Titanium RM 11-03 – but it won’t hang around for long.
Rolex Cosmograph Daytona
Probably one of the most obvious – and well known – motor-inspired watches is the Rolex Daytona, which takes its name from the Daytona International Speedway.
Well-loved for its accuracy and iconic design, it wasn’t always popular, but came to the forefront of horology when actor-turned-driver Paul Newman wore one. But if you want a Newman model today, you’ll have to wait a long time as they are incredibly collectable, along with the black or white-dial ceramic Cerachrom bezel versions.
We love the Oyster Cosmograph Daytona in Oystersteel with a black dial and an Oyster bracelet, featuring a black Cerachrom bezel with tachymetric scale.
A key part of the model’s identity is the tachymetric scale for measuring average speeds of up to 400 miles or kilometres per hour. Blending high technology with sleek aesthetics, the black bezel is reminiscent of the 1965 model that was fitted with a black Plexiglas bezel insert.
Richard Mille McLaren Automatic Flyback Chronograph
Twelve months after Bruce McLaren Motor Racing was founded in 1963, its first race car was built in a fantastic ‘McLaren orange’ shade. Richard Mille used the colour to create this RM 11-03 watch with only 500 pieces ever made globally.
Powered by two barrels, the movement has an impressive 55-hour power reserve while winding is adjusted depending on the wearer’s activity level.
Titanium inserts, similar in shape to the iconic McLaren F1’s air-intake snorkel and bearing the McLaren logo, adorn the bezel. The complex grade 5 titanium crown is shaped like a lightweight McLaren wheel, while the McLaren Speedmark logo is incorporated onto the rubber strap specifically developed for this edition.
