Don’t Miss Salon QP’s Return to London

In less than two weeks time London’s renowned Saatchi Art Gallery will host Salon QP, the UK’s premier luxury watch fair. With an impressive line up of luxury watch brands including IWC Schaffhausen, and a variety of classic cars on display, the highly anticipated event is guaranteed to be a hit with both watch and car enthusiasts alike.

The event will kick off in style by paying homage to the sophistication of the dress watch with a formal Black Tie reception, keeping in with the theme of Thursday night’s specially curated exhibition, Black Tie, White Dial. During the three-day event there will be four sessions (two of which require registration). Each session will delve deep into specific aspects of horology. For example, the Friday night gala would be perfect for those of you who are fascinated by the evolution of technology and its momentous impact on the craftsmanship of contemporary timepieces.

Salon QP offers an exciting opportunity for passionate horologists and those who are simply curious about the world of horology, to participate in daily discussions and seminars with guest speakers including men’s style influencer Jim Chapman, expert watchmakers and the QP’s very own resident vintage panel. The seminars will allow guests to expand their knowledge on a number of horology related topics including, the parallels between the classic car and the luxury watch, the 21st Century’s technological influence on watch making, and finally the dress watches’ eternal association with style and elegance. If the seminars and discussions are somehow unable to answer all of your questions, throughout the day you’ll have the opportunity to meet and mingle with influential watchmakers and discuss your interests even further.

One of the highlights of the prestigious event will most certainly be the Loomes Everest online watch auction, which is scheduled for the opening night, Thursday 2nd November 2017 and will be hosted by Bonhams Auctioneers. The auction will feature the very Loomes & Co of Stamford watch worn by Major Dick Gale during his, and his team of Gurkha’s strenuous expedition up the face of Everest earlier this year. The timepiece not only validates the reliability and durability of the British watch design, but also signifies the strength and resilience of man.

The vintage looking timepiece features a clear white dial enclosed within a robust stainless steel case, and possesses a comfortable classic brown leather strap. The story behind the watches’ journey, from the first unsuccessful attempt and courageous rescue efforts, to the celebration of achievement after reaching the summit, is captivating and incredibly inspirational. The Everest Loomes watch would certainly be an exceptional addition to any private collection.
