Glitz and glam of the Golden Globes: Who wore which watch?

With cameras flashing and a whole host of Hollywood celebrities gracing the red carpet, the Golden Globes 2021 is usually a full-on affair – a major date in the showbiz calendar.

This year the stars stayed at home perched on their sofas. All dressed up with nowhere to go but eagerly waiting online to hear if they’d won an award on zoom.

But what was lacking in atmosphere, was made up in the fashion stakes. While there were no £750,000 diamond-encrusted Bvlgari’s Octo L’Originales on show, as worn by Nick Jonas last year, there were a few choice selections of wristwear.

Josh O’Connor

The Crown heartthrob looked slick in his Loewe suit and knotted cravat, with contrasting black jacket, as he took to his webcam to accept his best actor prize for his portrayal of Prince Charles.

But it was the British actor’s Bulgari Octo Finissimo S Automatic that stole the show. An ultra-slim 2.23mm model, that would be perfect for royal engagements, is an elegant satin-polished stainless steel offering with the Bulgari calibre BVL 138 Finissimo movement.

Water resistant to 100 metres and with a 60-hour power reserve, it’s the perfect day to evening timepiece.

Sacha Baron Cohen

Nominated for three awards this year, the Borat Subsequent Moviefilm star took the gong for Best Motion Picture in the musical or comedy category. Baron Cohen’s choice of wristwear was a steel Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Master Chronometer that was only released in January.

He wore the classic version featuring the traditional Hesalite crystal and solid steel caseback fitted to its 42mm stainless steel case, with a sapphire crystal and display caseback.

Dan Levy

The Schitt’s Creek actor and producer picked up the show’s award for Best Television Series, Musical Or Comedy, went for a full yellow Valentino Couture look but it was a classic Cartier Santos timepiece Levy wore on his wrist.

Powered by mechanical movement with automatic winding, 1847 MC, this timepiece features a polished stainless steel case, an even-sided crown set with a faceted synthetic spinel, a silvered opaline dial, a striking blued-steel sword-shaped hands and a protective sapphire crystal lens.

It’s no surprise that this highly functional watch is from one of Cartier’s most iconic collections.

Nicole Kidman

The five-time Golden Globe winner, nominated for Best Performance by an Actress, Limited Series, Anthology Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television for her role in The Undoing, Kidman opted for the Omega Trésor in the brand’s Moonshine Gold.

With a 36mm case and set with 38 full-cut diamonds, this features an elegant dial with diamond-polished hands and Roman numeral markers. Powered by the Omega Calibre 4061 quartz movement, the watch also boasts a special foldover clasp and a winding crown with a single diamond. A perfect choice for a classy evening.
