Golden Globes 2020: Who wore what?

With a savage introduction that sailed incredibly close to the bone, it wasn’t just funnyman Ricky Gervais’ words that were under scrutiny at the 2020 Golden Globes on Sunday night.

Some celebs were clearly dressed to impress while others opted to get changed in the dark as cameras honed in on all of the action at The Beverly Hilton in California.

But for some of Hollywood’s rich and famous there was some truly stunning attire on show – not to mention some achingly beautiful timepieces. We check out who wore what best.

Ellen DeGeneres

The American talk show host dazzled in a sparkly black suit as she stepped on stage to accept The Carol Burnett Award to honor excellence in television. And to add to the suave look, was a Patek Philippe 5271P worth around £200,000 on her wrist.

Set with 58 diamonds, it’s the stuff of dreams for any watch collector. And with  a chronograph and perpetual calendar as complications, it certainly helped her look the part. Ellen wore the watch with a hand-stitched shiny black alligator leather strap.

She also owns a vintage Rolex and Patek Philippe Nautilus.

Rami Malek

The Bohemian Rhapsody actor has worn it before and he wore it again in anticipation of scooping a gong for best actor in a TV drama for Mr Robot. While he was pipped to the post by Brian Cox for Succession, he certainly looked dapper in his dark Yves Saint Laurent suit teamed with… yep, the Cartier Tank Solo.

Safe to say, the 38-year-old is definitely a fan of the brand, as he has previously been spotted wearing a Cartier Tank MC at the 2019 Met Gala and Cartier’s Santos-Dumont that was unveiled at SIHH last year.

Nick Jonas

With what may well have been the most expensive timepiece sitting in Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday, Nick Jonas – one third of the Jonas Brothers band – wore a Bvlgari’s Octo L’Originale with 1,172 diamonds, worth a staggering £750,000. What is barely noticeable with all those gems, is that they are actually embedded into 18K white gold.

Daniel Craig

Britain’s favourite secret agent, nominated for Best Actor in a Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical, was spotted in a very unusual Omega pink gold Speedmaster Automatic Chronometer with black dial.

Daniel is an Omega ambassador and has his own personal collection, including a Seamaster Planet Ocean 600m Co-Axial chronometer, which he wore in the opening sequence of Casino Royale, during his first stint as James Bond. But he claimed that he’s too scared to wear it now for fear of losing it.
