Pole position: Limited edition Schumacher watch in stock

We’re thrilled to have in stock, the discontinued limited edition watch made famous by Formula 1 racing driver Michael Schumacher days after he announced his retirement from the sport.

Audemars Piguet’s Royal Oak Offshore Michael Schumacher Limited Edition is distinctive, fully rendered and super expressive.

With a host of sports champs already in tow, Schumacher was an excellent addition to AP’s roster as the German even had a hand in designing it. And it looks like no other offshore. As one of the greatest racing drivers ever, he gets a watch that’s intricately crafted and instantly recognisable.

Limited edition

Made of a substantial 44mm 18ct Rose Gold case with exclusive ultra-robust CeraMet material, it’s one of only 500 pieces that we are thrilled to have landed here at Luxe Watches.

Based on the Royal Oak Offshore, the wider lugs make the watch seem larger on the wrist, with the self-winding chronograph pushers making the case appear square-shaped.

Wanting a watch as iconic as he is, Schumacher designed the watch to use many features from the world of Formula 1…and the details certainly start small. 

Racing reminiscent

There’s a subtle chequered flag motif on the second scale within the grey dial.Starting from 12 oclock position there are seven dots: two blue to represent two championships with the blue Benetton he raced in the 1990s and the five consecutive red to recognise his wins with his famous red Ferrari.

The minutes track is styled after racing’s famous checkered flags, and the chronograph registers recall automotive instruments – the bezel bolts are just like the lug nuts of a high performance vehicle while the pushers are reminiscent of the gas pedals. Even the studs holding the grey rubber strap are styled like cooling scoops, and the crown is reminiscent of a gear wheel. 

It also features a ‘Méga Tapisserie’ pattern, black counters, rose gold applied hour-markers and Royal Oak hands with luminescent coating and anthracite inner bezel ring with tachymeter scale.

The date is displayed in red and the red chronograph hands feature subtly blackened tips to help focus the eye. 

In-house movement

Inside lives Audemars Piguet’s in-house caliber 3120. You can see the beautifully finished movement through the glare-proof sapphire crystal case back, which also has Schmacher’s signature on it.

The strap is grey rubber and has a gold tang clasp and the watch is water resistant to 100 metres.
