Rolex Sea-King ~ the perfect way to send your collection soaring

A Rolex with a storied history has touched down at Luxe Watches.

The GMT Master II Sea-King could only be purchased by those who were serving or had served in the Army or Navy, with only 123 pieces ever made.

But now you can get your hands on one of these tantalisingly rare timepieces to take your collection to a new altitude.

Powered by the Oyster Perpetual movement, the Stainless Steel reference 11670LN comes with its original box and documentation.

A whole lot of history

Sea-Kings were famous aircraft that served in every British conflict since 1969, including the Falklands, Afghanistan and the Gulf War.

“Baggers” as they were known, had to use a complex radar system to seek out suspicious action on the ground or aerial threats but have now been decommissioned.

The GMT Master II Sea-King was the brainchild of an ex-Royal Navy officer who approached Rolex in 2014, to see if the brand could create a watch to celebrate the Sea-King’s history.

Rolex agreed and engraved the caseback of the watches with an image of the Sea-King helicopter, along with the slogan “Fear God, Honour the King”,and a unique edition number.

This particular model has flown an impressive number of trips onboard the Sea-King including with the Marines in the Arctic, on several Royal Naval ships and in military mountain training across the Alps.

It’s also been worn in over 100 subsequent search and rescue missions in the Scottish highlands.

Features

With a 40mm case and matching stainless steel Oyster bracelet with Oysterlock safety clasp, this is a great everyday watch, despite its hefty price tag. So, if the price feels eye-watering, you may want to stow it away for a future investment!

With a 24-hour rotatable bezel with black Cerachrom insert in ceramic, it boasts the previously detailed engraved case-back.

Featuring a black dial with date indicator at 3 o’clock, the watch features an extra green hand to measure time in two different countries. This feature was popular when Rolex forged a relationship with Pan Am Airlines.

An update of the model was created by Rolex in 2017 and this had enhancements which included a new case and wider case lugs, making for a bulkier offering.

The bezel on this edition is ceramic (rather than aluminium) and the Cerachrom dial is great for night time reading, with excellent date magnification.

A sound investment

This stunning military timepiece is fully waterproof to 100 metres.

We have just one available priced £49,995 and comes with its original paperwork, as well as evidence of a 2019 Rolex Service.
