Tempting trio added to the Audemars Piguet Code 11:59 collection

Audemars Piguet has just unleashed yet more variations of the Code 11.59 collection as the brand celebrates the Royal Oak’s golden anniversary.

The debut set of 13 new references, six new models and three brand new calibres – including the much awaited in-house integrated chronograph – were released the day before SIHH 2019.

And if you didn’t already know, Audemars Piguet used the name as an acronym:

  • Challenge -Challenge the limits of craftsmanship
  • Own – Our roots and legacy
  • Dare – To follow firm convictions
  • Evolve – Never stand still
  • 11.59 – The last minute before a new  day

Now the brand’s new trio of aesthetically-pleasing timepieces is bringing something that bit ‘extra’ to the popular collection.

Code 11.59 Tourbillon Openworked

If bright blue is your jam, you’ll love the new Code 11.59 Tourbillon Openworked, with its jazzy ceramic case and 18k white gold bezel.

But if you want one you’ll have to act quickly as there are only 50 pieces available worldwide.

What’s interesting about this watch is its contemporary case which interweaves white gold with blue ceramic. We admire how so many tones of blue have been included within the design.

The movement – the calibre 2948 – measures just 3.7mm in height and has been decorated using a process known as Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD). It’s actually the interior rehaut that has been turned blue through chemical vapour deposition. Cool, huh?

The blue openworked bridges and main plate, visible on both sides of the watch, also mirror the colours of the case middle.

Code 11.59 Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon with black onyx dial

Certainly not a bold and slightly less complicated but still nice on the eyes, is this new offering with a black ceramic case.

It also features an 18k white gold bezel and lugs and an impressive Oynx dial with some work put into it. First it was cut into a thin disc but also grounded, sanded and polished before being put in the two-tone case. But the nice result is that each dial is unique.

The major change from the 2019 series debut, is there are no longer applied hour markers on the dial, allowing the stone dial material to shine through.

This one is not a limited edition.

Code 11.59 Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon Chronograph

The black ceramic and gold limited edition of 50 pieces is a truly sophisticated complication!

It boasts the caliber 2952 but the most exciting thing about this offering is that it features both a flying tourbillon and a flyback chronograph.

No fewer than 111 V-angles on the movement were sandblasted, satin-finished, and polished by hand, with the whole decor taking more than 70 hours’ work!

Offered on a black textured rubber-coated strap, this one looks smart and is finished off nicely with an 18k pink gold AP folding clasp.
