Time to shine: The latest celebrity dials from Richard Mille
Richard Mille watches are famed for being lightweight, making them incredibly popular choices of wristwear for celebrities, especially sports stars like Rafa Nadal and Bubba Watson.
Now the brand has launched a new Chronograph Mancini watch as well as a Tourbillon Pharrell. Here we take a look at the latest offerings.
RM 11-04 Automatic Flyback Chronograph Roberto Mancini watch
Richard Mille has launched a watch dedicated to the man at the helm of Italy’s national football team – Roberto Mancini.
The RM 11-04 Automatic Flyback Chronograph Roberto Mancini watch, in the Italian flag colours, is the updated version of the RM 11-01which came out in 2013.
The original was created after discussions between the manager and Richard Mille to help address major issues faced by coaches during football matches, namely how much playing time was left.
The mechanical watch, with a dedicated dial for tracking half-time, extra time and overtime, along with a clever display combined with a flyback chronograph, allows Roberto to guide his players perfectly.
He says: “Time must be tracked and managed. It is one of the parameters that can mean victory or defeat. Every last minute, every second is precious and carries the potential to overturn the outcome of a match.”
Now the latest offering RM 11-04 incorporates the brand’s latest style codes, as seen in the new lines of the crown, its variable-geometry rotor and a super-sporty case in Carbon TPT with raised crenulations.
Surrounding the automatic calibre is a stunning shade of blue, a subtle nod to the Italian flag, Il Tricolore… not to mention an acknowledgement to the hue that gives the Squadra Azzura its nickname. The timepiece also features a flyback chronograph, annual calendar, pusher-caps and a rubber bracelet – the last with a titanium folding buckle.
Mancini, who has enjoyed spells at Manchester City and Galatasaray, now leads the Squadra Azzurra as his latest challenge.
“It is wearing the new RM 11-04 Mancini that Roberto will be shouldering his task and attempting to make the dream of so many ‘tifosis’ come true,” a spokesman said.
RM 52-05 Tourbillon Pharrell Williams
The American singer, songwriter, producer, and fashion designer, Pharrell Williams, is said to have collaborated with Richard Mille to create a £732,000 watch.
But you’ll be hard pressed to get your hands anywhere near one as only 30 pieces were ever created.
The RM 52-05 Tourbillon celebrates Pharrell’s fascination with space. Engraving, enameling and painting techniques have been applied to an astronaut design which sees grade 5 Titanium flirting with 19 jewels, including white diamonds and black sapphires.
With a 42-hour power reserve, a tourbillon and a simple hour and minutes display, eyes can be left to adore the dial’s artistry without distractions.
