Watch Review: Patek Philippe Complications World Time White Gold Ref. 5575G-001

Too often do watch connoisseurs and collectors define Patek Philippe as the world’s finest and most luxurious wrist watch manufacturer in the world, and quite frankly, it would be difficult to argue otherwise.

The last independent family-owned Genevan watch manufacturer has for generations impressed its many loyal admirers with a continuous string of innovative designs, including the platinum Complications Annual Calendar (Ref. 5905P-01) and the white gold Grand Complications Sky Moon Tourbillon (ref. 6002G).

Last week, Luxe Watches welcomed the arrival of a truly stunning and iconic piece, which has since been discontinued. The Patek Philippe Complications World Time White Gold (ref. 5575G-001) is an exquisite example of a Patek Philippe complication wrist watch, a mechanical timepiece, which performs duties other than simple time telling and date indication functions.

In this instance, the complication wristwatch features a world time display. The world time wristwatch, which was commissioned to celebrate Patek Philippe’s 175th anniversary, attests the intelligent and remarkable craftsmanship of Patek Philippe watchmakers.

The timepiece features a three-part dial, an outer location dial, a 24-hour disc and an hour indicator inner dial. The attractive timepiece allows its respective wearer to determine the local time of 24 locations worldwide. The wearers local time is always set to the city situated at the top of the outer dial (located at 12 o’clock). However if you were to travel between time zones and wanted to change the local destination, you simply press the pusher until you hear a click (one click represents one time zone jumped).

If you are in one country and want to check the time of another, you do not have to continually change the local time manually, because you can simply locate the desired location, and whatever number is beneath, is the local time of that region. The 5575-G001 is a complexly designed watch that can be utilised with ease, a collectors dream!

The limited edition timepiece features a beautiful smooth 40mm 18ct white gold case, and a solid gold brushed finish caseback engraved with Patek Philippe’s name and an inscription that reads, ‘175th anniversary 1839-2014’, to ensure everyone recognises the 5575G-001 as a limited edition piece (limited to 1300 pieces worldwide). The sophisticated wristwatch is finished off with a black alligator leather strap and an 18ct white gold Calatrava fold-over clasp.
