Which watch will be ‘slay’ for Santa this Christmas Eve?

The countdown is on until Santa packs his magical sleigh with presents to bring festive cheer to the world.

But with storms, snow and umpteen time zones to deal with, which luxury watch should the elves get for Santa to wear on his important journey?

He definitely needs a waterproof watch to do battle with the weather, certainly a shiny metal to go with his red and white suit, a big dial for good readability and some standout aesthetics to match his jolly personality.

With those needs in mind, we’ve created our best offerings for Santa as he sets off on December 24:

Patek Philippe World Time 5231J

We’re pretty sure Saint Nick will love this one, allowing him to keep an eye on the time as he flies round the globe. The rotating city ring would allow him to easily track the time in major cities around the world.

And we know he likes fancy – so he will love the  dial centre which features a hand-crafted cloisonné enamel world map that is both intricate and visually striking. It showcases continents and oceans with vibrant, artistic detailing, emphasising Patek Philippe’s enamel techniques.

The dial is designed for easy readability, with clear hour and minute hands – perfect for being in a rush – and it’s waterproof to 30 metres. The 24-hour ring is divided into lighter and darker segments to indicate day and night in different time zones, ensuring effortless time tracking.

The watch boasts an 18k yellow gold case that exudes classic elegance and luxury – add to that a polished finish for timeless appeal, making it ideal for Christmas Eve and then Christmas Day when he’s chilling by the fire after his hard work.

Rolex Sky-Dweller

With a practical dual-time functionality for global travels, combined with Rolex’s rugged durability, this would be a great idea for Santa as it can withstand the North Pole’s icy conditions.

While Santa travels the world delivering gifts, he can easily track the time at home and the local time of the city he’s visiting with a Sky-Dweller.

What is very cool about this watch is the revolutionary annual calendar that automatically adjusts for the number of days in each month (excluding February in leap years). A discrete window above each hour marker represents the months of the year, and it changes automatically. Santa is busy all year long, and the annual calendar ensures he never has to manually adjust the date when planning throughout the year.

We opt for the yellow gold version for Santa, and we think he would love the iconic fluted bezel for a touch of sophistication.

Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Worldtimer

For the ultimate festive sparkle, this one is up there with the best. Its worldtimer function, big dial, and water resistance ensure it’s super practical for the big fella.

Displaying the time in 24 time zones, with a city ring showing major global locations, Santa can easily track the time in every region he visits, ensuring on-time deliveries across the globe. The feature is essential for someone working across multiple time zones in a single night.

And whatever climate he visits he will be safe with water resistance to 150 metres and with the large, clear dial and luminous hands for night-time readability, this is a winner.

Final festive pick

The Patek Philippe World Time 5231J stands out as the ultimate Santa watch – it balances timeless elegance, practicality for world travel, and luxurious craftsmanship. However, for a more rugged and sporty option, the Rolex Sky-Dweller or Omega Seamaster Worldtimer are excellent choices.

So, how did we do? What do you think Santa would prefer – classic elegance or sporty functionality?
