Why the latest Richard Mille offering is in pole position
A very special watch set to take the horology and car racing worlds by storm, is the new limited edition Richard Mille RM43-01.

The tourbillon split-seconds chronograph is the second, highly anticipated Ferrari collaboration released after three years in the making.
And with only 150 available – 75 in microblasted and polished grade 5 titanium with a Carbon TPT® caseband, and 75 in full Carbon TPT® – it’s a race to the chequered flag to get your hands on one.
The new release is the big brother to Ferrari’s 2022 offering – the RM UP-01 Ultraflat Ferrari which was a firm favourite with F1 fans at just 1.75 mm thick.
And the partnership driving the new offering, is none other than British racing driver Sir Lewis Hamilton who has won a joint-record seven Formula One World Drivers’ Championship titles (tied with Michael Schumacher), and Scuderia Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.
Meticulous design
Echoing the intricate engineering of Ferrari heritage, the advanced materials make this a standout timepiece – two icons of engineering excellence delivered in one.
Ferrari’s Centro Stile played a key role in shaping the design, influencing elements such as the crown, hands, and strap, which showcases a pattern inspired by the Purosangue seats.
Like many of the signature RM designs, the partial or fully skeletonised dial is on offer here. This time, inspired by Ferrar’s engine and crankcases, providing an immersive view of the movement’s 3D effect, emphasising the brand’s dedication to transparency and horological artistry.
The asymmetrical tourbillon – positioned at 5 o’clock – and animated seconds display bring the design to life, featuring five radial blades that sweep across a 12-second index, enhancing the sense of motion.
Specification
The two available versions use similar calibres with identical specifications but both with identical case sizes, at 42.9mm wide, 17.1mm thick, and 51.2mm lug to lug.
Both come on rubber-style straps with titanium double-folding clasps, and are water-resistant up to 50 meters, ensuring durability and structural integrity.
An impressive 70-hour power reserve is at play here, with torque and function indicators on the 5N PVD titanium dial, where the energy level is displayed.
But brace for the price, as these beauties come in at £1,005,902 for the titanium and £1,187,713 for the carbon TPT.
At least any disappointed buyers can be sure to get a cinema seat for the upcoming Formula 1 movie, ‘F1’ starring Brad Pitt, which is scheduled for June this year.
