An out of this world timepiece just landed

Here at Luxe Watches, we do love getting hold of a more unusual watch… something a bit out there. This week we got one – and we’re very excited!

A stunning De Bethune DBS Spherical Moon Phase in 18ct white gold.

Historically it was an incredibly important wristwatch for Swiss watch brand De Bethune, which was created by watch dealer David Zanetta and watchmaker Denis Flageollet. 

A little history

Embodying the perfect partnership between incredible craftsmanship and contemporary design, the De Bethune DBS was first shown off at the 2005 Only Watch auction. For the time it was considered a benchmark in the horology world.

Lots of different designs were used for this collection, including an unusual horse-shoe shape of the case, an in-house caliber open to see from the side, and unique dial markings. Since its launch, the DBS has been available in different metals including white gold, pink gold, and platinum. 

Technically, the DBS-W differs from the first generation models due to changes in the balance unit. The DBS-W took things on a step further with the introduction of a triple shock resistance system, resilient balance bridge and more.

DBS-W watches are rarely seen on the market, due to a very small production run, so the watch we have in stock would be a great investment for a discerning collector. Offered in excellent condition, our pre-worn DBS-W comes complete with its original paperwork.

Features

Looking rather like a pocket watch with the exquisite crown unusually placed at 12 o’clock and with cone-shaped lugs, it was a rather futuristic design for the time. The semi-skeletonised dial itself is extraordinary, even today. 

One of the brand’s iconic signatures is an open balance, which can also be seen on this timepiece. With avant-garde style blue hands and the 3D spherical moon display at 6 o’clock, the timepiece boasts an incredible eight-day power reserve with indicator on the back and movement from the manual-winding calibre DB2014.

Crocodile skin is the leather of choice for the strap, which features a De Bethune pin buckle in 18ct white gold.
