More novelties from Watches and Wonders 2024

The watch world witnessed a dazzling display of innovation and craftsmanship as over 54 esteemed brands unveiled their latest timepieces at Watches & Wonders 2024.

For enthusiasts, this annual event – which finished on April 15 – is akin to a horological paradise, offering a sneaky peek into the future of watchmaking.

Hosted at Geneva’s expansive Palexpo convention centre, Watches & Wonders offered the stage to renowned watchmakers to showcase their most anticipated creations for the year ahead.

From iconic brands like Rolex and Cartier to innovative names like Tag Heuer, the exhibition floor buzzed with excitement as watch fans eagerly explored the myriad of novelties on display.

Here are a few more new offerings for 2024:

Chanel – J12 Automation Calibre 6

An exceptional watch comprising no fewer than 355 components, equipped with the Calibre 6, the new movement designed and assembled by the House Watch Manufacture.

A perfect balance of design and watchmaking expertise expressed through excellent materials and sophisticated details.

This exceptional watch is an incredible technical feat with a five-layer décor, at the simple push of a button.

Chopard – Alpine Eagle 41XP Frozen Summit

In a fusion of horological mastery and exquisite craftsmanship, Chopard offered up the Alpine Eagle 41XP Frozen Summit timepiece – a breathtaking addition to its sporty-chic collection.

Crafted entirely from diamond-set ethical gold, this watch represents the epitome of luxury and sustainability.

At its core lies the ultra-thin L.U.C calibre 96.41-L, a testament to precision engineering and innovation. Honored with the prestigious Poinçon de Genève quality hallmark, this model showcases Chopard’s unwavering commitment to excellence and tradition.

Hublot – MP-10 Tourbillon Weight Energy System

The Hublot MP-10 Tourbillon Weight Energy System is a remarkable timepiece that blends cutting-edge technology with traditional craftsmanship. Its complication – a tourbillon movement – is designed to counteract the effects of gravity on the watch’s accuracy.

Hublot is known for its avant-garde approach to watchmaking, and this system likely incorporates novel materials or mechanisms to enhance energy efficiency and extend the power reserve of the timepiece.

The MP-10 Tourbillon likely features a striking design that sets it apart from conventional timepieces. It has no dial, hands or oscillating weight and instead has a roller display and an inclined tourbillon automatic winding by two linear weights.

Rudis Sylva 23 Harmonious Oscillator Rose Gold

Some of the pioneering watchmakers in the Franches-Montagnes area included Captain Girard, François-J. Froidevaux, and J-B Mauvais. They established a modest workshop in 1769 at La Planche, a farmhouse in the village of Les Bois (formerly known as Rudis Sylva), crafting movement components sold for 50 batz each.

Today, Rudis Sylva proudly unveils the RS 23 Harmonious Oscillator. Encased in luxurious rose gold, its design seamlessly blends classic sophistication with modern innovation.

Rolex – new GMT Master II

Introducing the latest addition to the Rolex line-up: the GMT-Master II. But this time in resilient Oystersteel, featuring a cutting-edge Cerachrom bezel insert in striking grey and black ceramic – a highlight introduced to the collection in 2023.

This update comes in two distinct variations: one adorned with the signature Oyster bracelet, while the other boasts the elegant Jubilee bracelet.

Beyond merely indicating an alternate time zone, their distinctive green 24-hour hand serves as a poignant marker, directing attention to a place that holds personal significance for the wearer – a constant reminder of the emotions  attached to every journey.
