A Look At The Chopard Superfast Chrono Porsche 919 Edition
At last fortnight’s Le Mans 24 hours, where Chopard was present as the Official Timing Partner of Porsche Motorsport, the brand presented a new Superfast Chrono model dedicated to the new Porsche 919 Hybrid.
Porsche entered this year’s Le Mans 24 hours after a lengthy absence from the legendary endurance race. After the no.1 Audi suffered turbo issues in the middle of Sunday morning, the two Porsches took the lead. But both cars were forced to retire just two hours from the end of the 24-hour race.
The new Chopard Superfast Chrono Porsche 919 edition was launched just before this year’s race and is named after the Porsche 919 hybrid that the Stuttgart-based company entered in this year’s race. The COSC chronometer-certified flyback chronograph reflects the design codes of the car in its 45mm diameter stainless-steel case, such as the stripes on the dial that evoke the car’s rear diffuser and the steering wheel motif on the rubber-coated screw-in crown.
Inside beats the Chopard 03.05-M calibre, chronometer-certified by the COSC, which offers a power reserve of 60 hours and a fly-back chronograph function. This ‘engine’ and its oscillating weight can be admired through a sapphire crystal engraved with the inscription “Official Timing Partner Porsche Motorsport”.
The sporty dial has red inner bezel ring transfers, metallic black hour and minute hands and hour markers, with SuperLuminova luminescent coating, and an arrowhead red sweep-seconds hand, as well as the 919 logo in the counter at 9 o’clock.
The Chopard Superfast Chrono Porsche 919 edition is water-resistant to 100 metres and comes on a black rubber strap with slick tyre-tread motif and a polished steel folding clasp. It is issued as a 919-piece limited edition.
